Welcome to OUSD Dual Enrollment!
The Oakland Unified School District Dual Enrollment (DE) Program offers free Peralta College courses to interested 9th-12th grade students at participating OUSD High Schools. DE courses are conveniently located at the high school site during the school day* and taught by Peralta College instructors.
Upon passing the DE course, students earn college units (which can often be applied to college degrees), A-G high school credits**, and receive a GPA bump (increasing their overall GPA).
Dual Enrollment is an excellent way to save time, money, and try out college courses, explore majors, and career opportunities - completely for free - while still in high school!
*There are a few exceptions of courses that are virtual, after school or located at a different school site or a Peralta College.
** A-G eligibility depends on the specific Dual Enrollment course. Please check with your counselor or check here.

In Fall 2015, the Oakland Unified School District and Peralta Community College District---through the support of the Measure N/H initiative---launched a historic partnership to provide real college courses to Oakland Unified School District high school students at no cost.
Since then, more than 9,000 students in OUSD have taken free college courses through the Dual Enrollment program, which single-handedly has saved OUSD families over $30 million in college costs.
Today, over 1,300 OUSD high school students participate each semester in Dual Enrollment college courses with an average of 82% of students passing their college courses with a C or higher.

“I've really enjoyed psychology and the work was perfectly balanced, challenging but achievable.”
“I really liked the program, I've taken two years of DE courses with Peralta and both have been great.”
“This year was my first time taking a DE Class, I really enjoyed it as I found a class where I can learn about the history of where I am from. I don't need to continue questioning about my history anymore. Thank you for giving us a chance at this school.”
“I really appreciate this class... it helped my brain grow and learn in many ways I thought weren't possible. It also challenged me because this is not a hand-held class; you have to be ready to work for yourself.”
