In Music you will work on three sections:
1. PERFORMING – In this section you will learn to play 4 instruments.
· Keyboard
· Tuned Percussion
· Drum kit
· Acoustic Guitar
Outcome EXA 3-16a:
I can sing and/or play music from a range of style and cultures and perform my chosen music confidently using performance directions, musical notation and/or playing by ear.
2. COMPOSING – In this section you will create music – you will be the composer!
Outcome EXA 3-17a:
I can use my voice, musical instruments or music technology to improvise or compose with melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre and structure.
3. UNDERSTANDING MUSIC – You will listen to a wide range of music styles focussing mainly on instruments of the orchestra.
Outcome EXA 3-19a:
I have listened to a range of music and can identify features and concepts. I can give constructive comments on my own and others’ work, including the work of professionals.
S2 Music Course
In Music you will work on three sections:
1. PERFORMING – In this section you will continue to develop your skills on two instruments.
· Keyboard
· An instrument of your choice. Choose from tuned percussion, drum kit, acoustic guitar or voice.

2. COMPOSING – In this section you will create music – you will be the composer!

3. UNDERSTANDING MUSIC – You will listen to a wide range of music including World Music, Film Music and Pop Music.

I have listened to a range of music and can identify features and concepts. I can give constructive comments on my own and others’ work, including the work of professionals.
National Qualifications in Music provide learners with a broad, practical experience of performing and creating music. Learners develop performing skills in solo and/or group settings using two selected instruments or one instrument and voice.
These courses also enable learners to develop composing skills and broaden their understanding of music concepts and styles.

The Advanced Higher Music Course develops learners' skills in performing, creating, understanding and analysing music. Learners develop the skills they need to perform challenging music with musical, and technical, accuracy and fluency while realising composers' intentions. Learners will also develop their own composing skills.
