SPTA Languages

The ability to speak and understand a foreign language is very important in a number of ways, including when on holiday, when making new friends, when using the internet or for your future employment, perhaps if you have to deal with people from other countries.

Companies are much more likely to trade with a country if they have people working for them who are able to speak the country’s language instead of relying on speaking English.  This is becoming increasingly important in today’s world of work.  People who can speak a foreign language earn more than those who cannot.

Learning a language is not only important for finding a job but can also be fun and can open up lots of new possibilities for you in terms of future travel and where you might live!

BGE

All students will be required to study Spanish as a core subject from S1 to S3, and they will subsequently have the option to continue their language learning journey into the Senior phase. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to engage with French during both S1 and S2, with the option to continue studying French in S3 and the Senior phase.

The curriculum will feature topics that are particularly relevant to young people, focusing on contemporary themes and culturally significant celebrations. Our teaching approach goes beyond reliance on textbooks, with an emphasis on developing critical thinking skills and addressing global issues within our courses. Students will actively participate in a wide range of engaging tasks that encompass Speaking, Reading, Listening, and Writing skills.
