History is one of the most challenging subjects, but that is what made it very educational. I've learned a lot about America, past information, modern information including different court cases that we would look into, and having small debates.
This Assessment from the second marking period was one of the assessment I was proud of. In a group of three per table or less, each groups looked at all the sources that the teacher gave us, looking for evidence such as court cases (with APA citation) that supports whether or not schools should be able to control speech on Social Media, and creating notes based on the information we find.
This assignment was completed as a part of our unit about the 1st Amendment (mainly on freedom of speech) and if the first Amendment or freedom of speech is applied to students within the school. The assignment also helped with having similar debating plans that we had to do later on the unit.
What I learned -
When the First Amendment says to protect freedom of speech it does not mean that everyone can say whatever they like. (Also that hate speech is actually protected by First Amendment) But if it caused any disruption like leading to harm, violence and fear it would be illegal, for example threatening some one with actual tension to do harm is illegal.
This assignment is from marking period 2 and is one of the assignments I need more improvement on. What we had to do was to write a 1500-word essay based on the 2022 midterm elections that saw a significant increase in participation among young voters.
A. What is the significance of the high number of young voters in the 2022 midterm elections
B. How does the increased number of young voters reshape the political climate?
(This assignment was part of the unit, due to it being black history month.)
We were given some resources to start researching the topic. Although I understood the topic, I had a hard time formatting the essay. I feel that I should have put some background information about American voting, and now looking back at this assignment I realized I didn't follow most of the rules that they said I had to do for my essay.
What I learned-
In this essay, I learned that the reason for the increase in younger voters was due to their public opinion on rules or things that have been a problem for different people, which is why younger voters are important in America increasing the votes for Democrats more so than for Republicans.
This assignment from the third marking period and is one of the assignments I am proud of.
In this assignment, we had to create a poem or essay, a piece of art, or a video that addresses the cornerstones of democracy or voting rights. the idea of this project and its connection to the overall unit is the understanding of laws and their importance to everyone. In history, there are laws that are applied to events.
I decided to make a drawing that would represent equal justice. This drawing includes a woman who holds a weighing Balance, and she is known as the Greek goddess of laws and justice which is why I decided to draw her into the art piece, including adding a courthouse, and laws/rules.
This presentation from Marking period four is an assignment that I need more improvement on.
After finishing an essay on an event that led to the Civil War, I had to present my event to the class.he The topic that I chose was about States' Rights, which was difficult for me to understand. During the presentation, I found myself repeating things, but looking more into this topic is what got me to understand more.
What I learned-
I learned about States' Rights; this topic during the Civil War is what caused the destruction between the South and the North. Both argued about things such as slavery and during that time the South relied on slavery to produce money and crops. The Southern believed that the federal government wanted to make a law that would stop slavery, this made the Southern states argue that the federal government /congress had no right to go against their states' rights (they were afraid that the government would take their way of life).

Friday, September 15, 2023 QFT and Reconstruction Due Sep 15, 10:00 PM
Grade- 90%
This assignment from the first marking period is something that I am proud of. In a group, we created and revised questions about Reconstruction using QfT format and earned notes on the lecture about Reconstruction. I understand what needs to be done in this assignment, what to write in my notes, and about different ways of understanding my perspective on the topic or others. Overall I learned what the Reconstruction era was by taking notes from the lecture with my group and asking questions to be curious about stuff that are soon going to be answered throughout the unit.
SECOND MARKING PERIOD
Historical Narrative Research Final Copy
Grade- 92%
In this assignment we had to create a narrative story, and it is one of the assignments that I am most proud of, from the grade I got and my overall experience. The main topic of this assignment is to write a historical narrative about the impact of the Great Depression on ethnic and racial minorities. Using either African American, Hispanic American, and Asian Americans, I chose to write about the experiences of Asian Americans during the Great Depression. Writing was interesting, and joyful at the same time, I had to make this story about anything, but must have actual facts on people back during the Great Depression. I wrote a short story about a Chinese man that has a fishing job, a tired man that's been discriminated against, and is trying his best to get money during this time period. Overall he is given happiness from his wife, where she ensures him and plans to get through it together. This assignment made me understand a small point of view of how the Great Depression impacted many.
This assignment is something that could have been better. The objective of this was to analyze whether something is a sentence or a sentence fragment by reviewing sentences to determine whether they are complete sentences. After having a huge lecture about parts of sentences and how they contribute to complete sentences, we are then given a quiz where we must answer which is a fragment or a Sentence. Although this was tough, I of course got a bad grade on it. Ms, Gengaro did ask if anyone had questions but I just believed I was going to do alright, which I didn't. If I had to change anything I would try to listen more or try to at least ask one or more questions. This Quiz taught me that after failing something i should go back to trying to understand it and do better next time if there is another chance i might have to do again or if there is anything similar in the future.
THIRD MARKING PERIOD
This assignment is something I am enlightened about. In this authentic assignment, we are doing a Black History project with the theme of “African American and the Arts' for this year 2024. For this project, I chose to make a drawing of 3 Artists: Henry Ossawa Tanner, Mary Edmonia Lewis, and Alma Thomas. What was learned about this project was its main focus to draw attention to the contributions of African Americans in the United States. Overall this project was enjoyable to do, including being able to draw.
Black History Month Project Due February 6, 2024
This Quiz assignment is one of the assignments I am mostly not proud of, because of my grade and how I handled it. In the beginning, we learned about the grammatically correct ways to join sentences and fragments together for our SAT prep. Where I had gone wrong with this was my lack of studying, and although I was given a second chance to fix my grade I ended up with an even lower grade that I wasn't proud of. I can see that my main problem is not wanting to do the work to get a good grade, I'm still working on fixing the issue with myself and hope that I will be able to do the best of my ability for any upcoming quiz or similar assignment.

FOURTH MARKING PERIOD
GRADE- 94%
We were assigned to work in a group to analyze the nonviolent Greensboro Protest. This involves examining primary and secondary sources, responding to questions about these sources and creating a flier for a fictitious sit-in that was measured by the rubric. I understand what was required to complete the assignment and by following the instructions I learn new information. I can honestly say that this assignment wasn't that difficult but I was able to learn about something I haven't known about before.
GRADE- 33%
After learning about the civil rights movement and words that describe its political, social or economic, my goal was to understand the meaning of those words. Although this task seemed simple I had failed to obtain the correct responses to the questions. Overall I hope to improve my memorization, studying habits and motivation to do better when a next similar opportunity appears.
