SECOND MARKING PERIOD-
In this marking period it was not that distressing, but it was somewhat because of having to write essays and present projects.
One Of The Assignments That I was Proud Of -
Of Mice and Men Literary Analysis Essay (Jan. 12-13)
This Topic that we learn about, was the book " Of Mice and Men"
Essay The Mice And Men book - Google Docs
summary-
"Of Mice and Men" is a novella written by John Steinbeck. Published in 1937, it narrates the experiences of George and Lennie, two migrant ranch workers, who move from place to place in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States.
The friendship between Lennie and George- Lennie has a developmental delay which causes him to be very forgetful and impulsive, which causes problems later on during the story. George helps Lennie when he forgets and when Lennie gets in trouble.
In the assignment, we had to write an essay that included one of the prompts that were given.
How does Steinbeck develop the major themes of (theme)?
Or
What does Of Mice and Men reveal about (theme), and how does Steinbeck reveal this message?
Mainly the objective was to pick a theme for what could be the subject that was talked about in "Of Mice and Men" and use evidence from the book to explain why it supports your claim of the theme.
This assignment fits with the overall unit because we first learned about how to format an analysis essay including looking at different themes that we can use or make our own idea of the theme. I appreciated the assignment because it helps refresh my brain to understand the importance of formatting the analysis essay, preparing me if I ever had to write another analysis essay.
2nd Assignment -
This is one of the Assignments I think I need more improvement on.
Shakespeare Research Project (Jan.12-18)
Lhea Osorio - Shakespeare Research Project - Google Slides
Before we begin our new unit of reading Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it was important to understand what life was like in Western Europe during the 16th century, also known as the Renaissance. we all had to split up into groups and be assigned one of the topics that were listed on the attached Google Doc.
In this research project, we were assigned to a William Shakespeare life. during this research project, I have also learned a lot about Shakespeare, including about his family, and his journey to write plays or books.
what made this research project quite difficult was looking for information, although we were all given a source to find information, the resources of why Shakespeare wanted to write plays were not found nor why he moves to London to do plays in the first place.
If I had to improve this project, I would want to check for grammar including not putting a lot of information on one slide and instead making more than one for more space, so the audience won't be overwhelmed by all the words jumble together.
THIRD MARKING PERIOD-
One Of The Assignments That I Was Proud Of -
Brand Research Paper (Feb. 13)
Lhea Osorio - Brand Research Paper - Google Docs
In this unit, we learned how brands use the three persuasive appeals; ethos, pathos, and logos, to advertise and sell their products. This assignment was completed as a part of the unit to understand each of them. We all worked individually having to choose a brand to research and explore or find any advertisement for their use of the three appeals.
Ethos- deals with credibility/trustworthiness or beliefs to get its audience's attention.
Pathos- goes with people how people will feel and how the advertisement or ads are shown to get an emotional reaction out of the viewers.
Logos- Have logic or knowledge to get its audience.
The brand that I decided to do for this assignment is Mcdonald's. My first step was to first research past information, how it came to its achievements, and the types of food they sell. After putting information on my brand I would then look for 3 different ads that would show each of the appeals.
2nd Assignment -
This is one of the Assignments I think I need more improvement on, also this assignment is also connected to the one I did for the brand research paper.
Brand Research Poster (Feb. 13)
Similar to the unit for the brand research paper after finishing it everyone had to make their own advertisement from their brand that had to have only two appeals and to either draw it or make it online.
For my advertisement, I decided to draw it using red paper. Includes an egg McMuffin, a drink on the side, subtitles that say, "Eat with McDonald and make your family happy" and a hand pointing forward at the viewers. for this advertisement, I chose ethos and pathos for both of my appeals.
completing this assignment was a challenge because I had to think of an original idea to make my advertisement and explaining it also was hard, I would improve more if I look for more examples or just thought a bit more for a better idea.
I learned about Ethos pathos, and logos and how it's important to find a way to get an audience's attention.

FORTH MARKING PERIOD-
One Of The Assignments That I Was Proud Of -
Romeo and Juliet Mask Project (May 19)
Lhea Osorio - Romeo and Juliet Mask Project - Google Docs
The unit goes with the project because of reading Romeo and Juliet after finishing the book, we were given an optional project. in Act 1, Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet, it was customary to wear a mask at a ball. we had to design a mask using the materials that were provided and explain or make a document of why the mask that you made symbolizes a character from the play.
The mask that I made for this project represented Juliet's father/Mr. Capulet. I used color to represent his personality for example I used red, to represent his anger because the color of the Capulet flag also includes red. Purple is a color that means power and wealth and just like his household, he is wealthy and powerful which is why he has to pick a wealthy person to marry Juliet. The pink that is barely seen means his care for his daughter and others during the story.
FIRST MARKING PERIOD
One Of The Assignments That I wasn't proud of- 1950's Quiz- Samantha \Sousa • Sep 22, 2023
Grade- 50%
At the beginning of marking period 1 during the completion of a research project on life in 1950, to lay the foundation of the book “A Raisin In The Sun” Our objective was to create a project with the given topic given form the teacher, then to provide two Quiz questions about our topic so that my classmate would answer after listening to the presentation made by other students. This overall assignment is something that wasn't exactly understood well from my overall class and myself, because everyone clearly had forgotten its requirement and put in random questions and because of that I had gotten a bad grade including the rest of the class. Although we were given another chance to redo it, I still got a bad grade at the end.
One Of The Assignments That I Was Proud Of - "A Raisin In The Sun" Act I Test- Samantha Sousa • Oct 16, 2023
Grade- 88%

Mama wants to buy a house, Walter wants to open a liquor store, and Beneatha wants to go to medical school. This assignment was to strengthen my understanding of symbolism, and things i might have not noticed before.
SECOND MARKING PERIOD
Big Six: Song Analysis Poster Samantha Sousa • Dec 20, 2023
Grade- 90%
In this assignment we’re assigned to create a poster to analyze a stanza or two from a song that we chose for the three Big Six Skills for analyzing poetry that we have discussed during class: Speaker, Turns, and Tools. We are then obliged to identify at least three annotations for the tool that is being operated and express how the use of the tool affects the meaning or understanding of the song. This assignment is meant to guide us to understanding poetry for a book named “The Long Way Down” we are going to read. This overall small project was actually very enjoyable to do because of how straight forward it was and having to finish this by myself while also getting a good grade from it is what made me proud.
Unit 1 Benchmark • Dec 7, 2023
Grade-78%
Although the grade I received was acceptable, I could have potentially done better. This Benchmark was to answer or write down answers towards questions we have learned throughout the couple of months we have been in school. We have learned a lot including writing essays, and analyzing reading. During some of the questions I did not know some questions but proved that I would need to focus on my assignments to better grasp on it more.
THIRD MARKING PERIOD
Macbeth: Final Essay Samantha Sousa • Mar 20
Grade- 96%
After reading Shakespeare's tragic story "Macbeth," we are required to write an essay by choosing one of three essay topics to research for the final essay. Once we choose a prompt, we must find evidence from the book or other sources that support the theme of our essay and provide reasonable information. My prompt was about how Ambition can drive someone to do unspeakable things, by using Lady Macbeth as an example of my evidence. This assignment helped me understand the story of the book and how the characters are developed throughout the book. It was very easy going and I tried making my vocabulary sound professional but also understanding the readers.
Macbeth act 2-5 test 4/26
grade- 60%
This Test I had failed for a couple of reasons, although I understood the whole storyline of the story, I had flaws on some of the meanings of some chapters and vocabulary words in which I had forgotten. It could have been simple and easy, it just seemed my mind had just deleted it from existence. But even with that struggle of answering questions I tried my best and all I can say is that even if I fail so many times when it comes to testing, there will always be a way of succeeding.
