Explanation
The task of this assignment was to use the provided table to jot down discussion-worthy quotations from the novel, Sing, Unburied, Sing. In the following rows we had to explain what the quotes mean, and lastly why we chose the quote.
The objective was to find and analyze important quotes from the novel to later use for in class discussions.
The overall unit related to analyzing passages and novel to create a deep level of understanding which could be used in class discussions, essays, and presentations. In this case we did have to participate in discussions, create essays, and give presentations on the novel, Sing, Unburied, Sing.
By completing this assignment I learned how to look at pieces of text from several different angles creating a deeper understanding of the text.
Reflection
This assignment showcases my ability to deeply analyze and interpret text. While doing the assignment I read each quote beyond its literal meaning and tried to connect it with the overall theme of the novel and themes in the real world.
The assignment represents important themes in the course as it relates to analysis. The course heavily works with analyzing passages and novels. These analysis will contribute to an overall conclusion that can be implemented in an essay, presentation, and or discussion.
I enjoyed this assignment because we were not limited in our interpretation. We could write about several points this included focusing on imagery, diction, figurative language, or any connection to the real world or other books. There were different points we could address not limiting our interpretations.
The assignment connects to the larger world in terms of detail. There are a lot of details that one can miss if you do not deeply analyze situations and pieces of literature.
