Marking Period 1:
The goal of this assignment was to research about how robots give enough energy to explore mars for many years. Through completing this assignment, I learned that MMRTG is the robot we use to explore Mars. Furthermore, MMRTG turns heats from radioactive decay of plutonium into electricity. I enjoyed this assignment because it was a way to show our understanding of the unit. If I had to complete this assignment again, I would improve it by adding more color to it and making the chart look nice.
The task of this assignment was to investigate the mass and relative abundance of isotopes of an element and calculate the atomic mass. This assignment was completed as a part of our unit about isotopes and mass spectrometry. I really enjoyed this assignment because I was able to understand it. It taught me how to calculate average atomic mass which is: atomic mass=%isotope 1 * mass isotope 1 + %isotope 2 * mass isotope 2 +.... It connects to the larger world by helping us identify substances of materials.
Marking Period 2:
Sparklers provides an example for reactions like oxidation/reduction reaction. They are more reliably safe to create and test in the laboratory. Some ways to make it is by using barium nitrate, when its in high temperatures it decomposes to form oxides of nitrogen and oxygen. For this assignment, me and my partner could've made the sparklers more better. At times the sparkler wouldn't light up much, we needed to add more inorganic powder.
In this assignment, we learned about the coulomb's law and atomic radius trends on the periodic table. I learned that Coulomb's law is charges that repel each other and opposites attract. The atomic radius trends on the periodic table is from left to right across the period decreases and as moving down the periodic table it increases. I'm proud of this assignment because I understood the concept of why periodic trends happen throughout the table and how the nucleus has a force of attraction on the outer shell.
Marking Period 3:
The task of this assignment was to solve the unknown values that the word problems were being asked. For instance, the first questions its asking us to calculate the energy required to heat a beaker of water at 18 C boiling. The objective of this homework assignment was to show our understanding of the question q=mcT. While completing this assignment I have learnt how to use the equation when necessary and finding specific heat capacity, and demonstrating which material would cost more. Finally, this assignment showcases my strengths because I was confident with solving these word problems.
This assignment was a way to experience a virtual titration experiment. There were four sections in each section, we learnt about the concentration of hydrochloric, determining the amount of aspirin, and the amount of iron in a batch of diet. It was a way to learn about different batches and supplement tables. This assignment was challenging because certain sections were complicated which took more time completing the assignment. This assignment taught me how to determine the concentration of ammonia in a consignment of hair product by performing an acid weak base titration.
Marking Period 4:
