Welcome to Freshman English!
This literature course provides students the tools to develop skills for literary analysis of (grade-level literature), both prose and poetry, as well as composition of effective analysis and argumentation. The expectation is application and assessment of these foundational skills throughout the course.
The ultimate goal: ORIGINAL THOUGHT and CURIOUSITY!!
Books and Supplies
You will be provided a binder that is ONLY for ENGLISH. Frequent binder checks will occur throughout the semester and will culminate in a Portfolio Day.
Fresh Ink, various authors (short story collection)
Patron Saints of Nothing, Randy Ribay
Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare
Independent reading books (student will select throughout the year)
Selected short stories and poetry (packets provided)
Chromebook (charged at least 50%; this is an essential tool for your success.)
Writing utensil (needed-and expected-daily)
