Welcome to our English department, freshman!
I'm Ms. Del Fiacco! I've been teaching at OPRF since January of 2019. It has been an honor to be a part of the OPRF family, and I can't wait for you to experience all that we have in store for you these next four years!
Here are some facts about me!
-I began my English teaching career in 2017.
-Prior to teaching English, I worked in several areas of special education for Lake Park High School and NDSEC.
-I received my bachelors in English from the University of Iowa and my masters in secondary education from National Louis University.
-I am also certified to teach English Language Learners.
-I speak Greek fluently and some conversational Italian.
-When I’m not teaching, I love to travel, go to concerts, take long walks, and spend time with family.

Classroom Rules - Safety & Late Work
Tardies/Exiting the Classroom
Students are only be able to leave the classroom to visit the bathroom/water fountain 3 times per semester. They will receive 3 tickets at the beginning of the semester that will grant them access to leave the classroom for the bathroom/water fountain.
They will only be able leave the classroom by turning in one of their tickets to me. Once they have used all 3 tickets, they will not be able to leave the classroom for the bathroom/water fountain for the rest of the semester.
Students should keep these tickets for emergency purposes only.
If students are tardy, they will not be allowed to use their ticket to leave the classroom. They must stay in the classroom.
In order to support students in keeping track of missed assignments, as well as to encourage productive behaviors in the classroom, there will be a new late work policy implemented for the second semester.
Late Work Policy
If a student is present in class when an assignment is given, the assignment will not be accepted late. If they are unable to finish the assignment in class and need extended time, they must complete it after class and before 11:59 pm of the day it was assigned.
If a student is absent and missed a class in which an assessment was given, they must complete the assessment they missed within the following three school days of their absence. It will not be accepted past the three-day mark. For example, if a student was absent on Monday and missed the assessment that was completed in class that Monday, then they must turn it in by the end of the day (11:59 pm) on Thursday. It will not be accepted on Friday.
If a student is absent for 3 or more consecutive days due to illness or a death in the family, both a parent and student must communicate their circumstances with the teacher so that a reasonable agreement can be made upon turning in their missed work.
