Islamophobia
A Muslim parent describes three problematic incidents involving a teacher: (a) refusal to accommodate for religious holidays, (b) a lesson linking Muslims to terrorism, and (c) questionable social media posts.
By engaging in the analysis of this Ted-Viv vignette, teacher candidates will:
Reflect on their personal views and professional responsibilities regarding other religion, Islamophobia and bias.
Develop insights into culturally respectful and responsive practices.
Consider how to develop policies, pedagogies and curriculum that are respectful of Islam and of other religious/cultural practices.
