Types of Hardware

Hardware refers to the equipment that will be used to take Digital Images, the equipment used will include:

  • Smartphones
  • Tablet
  • Compact Camera
  • DSLR Camera

Smart Phone

A smart phone is a multi purpose mobile computing device that has integrated features usually associated with computers such as an operating system, web browser and software applications. There are many different types, the best selling are the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy.

I Phone 11

This is the I Phone 11, which uses Apple IOS and applications are purchased from the App store.

Samsung Galaxy s10

This is the Samsung Galaxy s10, which uses Android 10 OS and applications are purchased from the Galaxy store.

Tablet Computers

A Tablet computer (shorten to Tablet) is a portable computer usually accessed via a touchscreen (some have fold out keyboards). Tablets are usually slightly smaller and weigh less than a laptop. Tablets as with Smart phones will have an operating system, web browser and software applications.

I Pad Pro

This is the I Pad Pro, which uses Apple IOS and applications are purchased from the App store.

Windows Tablet Computer

This is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which uses Windows 10 Professional OS and runs a range of software applications.

Compact Camera

Also known as a point and shoot camera (usually 35mm snapshot camera), is generally used to take still images. This camera does not have an interchangeable lens, but has additional features such as in built flash, automatic focus and exposure.

Canon PowerShot G9 X Compact Camera

This the Cannon PowerShot G9 X Compact Camera. It has 20.2 mega pixels and 28-84mm Lens which has 3x zoom capability.

Sony Cybershot

This is the Sony Cybershot Compact Camera. It has 18.2 mega pixels and 20x optical zoom lens.

DSLR Camera

A DSLR is a digital single-lens reflex camera. It uses a mirror inside the camera to reflect the light coming from the lens to an optical view finder. This is how you can see what is being taken, through the lens and is where "reflex" comes from-referring to the mirror's reflection. These cameras have interchangeable lenses.

CANON EOS 5D Mark IV

This the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. It has a 30-megapixel full-frame sensor, and uses a 61-point viewfinder autofocus system.

Nikon D780

This is the Nikon D780. it has a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor, and uses a 51-point autofocus system.
