When taking still images there are a number of accessories that can be used to help make the image better, by either enhancing the image or by helping take the image.
Selfie Stick
This is used as an aid when taking photographs or video by positioning the smartphone beyond the range of the arm. By using the selfie stick shots can be taken that would not have been possible just using your arm, they can be taken at different angles and distances, as the sticks are extendable.
Lenses
Smartphone cameras are getting better all the time, to include wider lenses and zooms. But an add-on lens allows additional options that phones cannot do internally. An add-on lens can increase the magnification and angle size as well as other enhancements depending on the lens you choose and the price you want to pay.
Tripod
A Tripod is a stand with three legs that are collapsible which is designed to hold your camera still. They feature joints that allow your phone to be tilted or rotated and allow shots to be taken from a variety of angles.
