HOW OFTEN WILL I BE TIMETABLED FOR AN ELEMENTS COURSE?
From the 2026/2027 academic year, students in Years 9 to 11 will engage in one Elements course per semester. This will take place over a two-hour block once a week. Each course is 18 weeks long, and the changeover between semesters occurs in Mid-January.
HOW MANY COURSES DO I NEED TO CHOOSE?
You will need to select your preferred course options for both Semester One and Semester Two. This means you will engage in 5 different courses over the three years. In Year 11, you will not take part in the Elements during Semester Two, as you will go on exam leave mid-year.
HOW SHOULD I SELECT WHICH COURSES TO DO?
You should take your time to review the course overviews for the courses on offer. Select the hyperlink attached to each course name below, then watch the course video and read the overview. These courses last 18 weeks, so choose something you are interested in, not what your friends are. Step outside your comfort zone. Is there a new skill you would like to learn or develop further in?
WILL I GET MY SELECTED COURSE CHOICE?
When you make your selection for each semester, we will ask you to choose four different courses. We use an algorithm that assigns the entire cohort so that as many students as possible get their preferred choices. Demand for some courses is very high, so please understand that your first choice may not always be possible. Year 11s are given priority, followed by Year 10s and then Year 9s.
CAN I REPEAT A COURSE?
No. Over the two years, you will engage in 5 different courses.
