HOW MANY COURSES DO I NEED TO CHOOSE?
You will need to select your preferred course options for Semester One, and then again for Semester Two. This means you will engage in two different courses over the year. Each course is 18 weeks long, and the changeover between semesters occurs in Mid-January.
HOW SHOULD I SELECT WHICH COURSES TO DO?
You should take your time to review the course overviews for the courses on offer. Select the hyperlink attached to each course name below, watch the video and read the overview. These courses last 18 weeks, so choose something you are interested in, not what your friends are interested in. Step outside your comfort zone. Is there a new skill you would like to learn or develop further in?
WILL I GET MY SELECTED COURSE CHOICE?
When you make your selection for each block, we will ask you to choose four different courses. We use an algorithm that assigns the entire cohort so that as many students as possible get their preferred choices. Year 11s will have priority, then Year 10s, followed by Year 9s. So if you miss out on your preferred choice this year, as a Year 9, just know you will have greater priority in the years ahead. Demand for some courses is very high, so please understand that your first choice may not always be possible.
CAN I REPEAT A COURSE?
No. Over the three years, you will engage in six different courses.
SOME COURSES APPEAR TO BE LONGER THAN OTHERS?
All courses are 18 weeks in length. In the course overview, some course facilitators do not plan every week to allow flexibility in the programme, so that you might want to take your learning. Elements courses are generally designed to be adaptable and suit the needs of each individual cohort.
