How to help my child
You don't have to be a math expert or great at spelling in order to assist your child at home. There is much you can do as a parent to help set up your child for academic success at home. To help ensure the academic success of your student, it is critical that you have remain connected to their schooling through Q ParentConnect. Q Parent Connect allows you to:
View current grades
View scores on assignments
View missing assignments
View absences
View State test scores

Sleep routine
Is your child getting enough sleep? Nowadays, students have significantly more distractions they encounter on a daily basis, including TV, Cell Phones, Social Media and video games! Teens need to get adequate sleep. Take a look at the Sleep video and also consider:
Removing TV from students bedroom
NO CELL PHONES at night! Consider having them leave their cell phone in your bedroom, charging for the night.
Setting time limits on Video games.
Wiltsey library access!
Students can access all of the book titles found in Wiltsey's Library with their chromebook or tablet! All you need is the OMSD student login information and your set!

INCREASE READING COMPREHENSION
Your student takes Reading Inventory assessments each year to determine their level of comprehension. Ask you child for their "RI" number. You may also find this on a recent progress report or report card. To help your student grow in Lexile, make sure they are selecting books that are AT or slightly above their current lexile. Use this website to determine the level a book is at or to find titles appropriate for your childs Lexile.
