As part of an initiative to encourage students' research in analog spaces, Ms. Agnes, WSS teacher, brought 5th and 7th Grade students to the library to explore books as a research tool. While 5th Grade is studying legal codes of the ancient world and creating their own laws for a fairer world, 7th Grade was investigating the effects of the Industrial Revolution in various areas of society and its repercussions in the modern world.

October brought the Halloween spirit, and we took the opportunity to tell humorous stories about monsters and witches to the Pre-School classes. The stories captivated the little ones, who laughed and enjoyed wearing the hat of "Winnie, the Witch."

Another highlight was the book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers, a favorite among the students. The story follows Duncan, who finds his crayon box empty and discovers letters written by the colors explaining why they decided to leave. To explore the book differently, the students worked in pairs, choosing a letter to read aloud and explaining the characters' feelings and reasons for leaving. They also highlighted the adjectives used to describe the colors.

We attended the event XIV Encontro Escola SESC de Bibliotecas Escolares, which is a leading event for training and exchanging experiences for Library Science professionals in Rio de Janeiro. This year's theme, "Diversity and Inclusion," addressed practices, policies, and technologies aimed at eliminating barriers and promoting inclusion. 

Como estímulo à pesquisa dos alunos em espaços analógicos, a professora Agnes, de WSS, levou seus alunos de 5th e 7th Grades à biblioteca para que explorassem os livros como ferramenta de pesquisa. Enquanto o 5th Grade estudava códigos legais do mundo antigo e criando suas próprias leis para um mundo mais justo, o 7th Grade investigava os efeitos da Revolução Industrial em várias áreas da sociedade e suas repercussões no mundo atual.

Outubro trouxe o clima de Halloween, e aproveitamos para contar histórias divertidas de monstros e bruxas para as turmas do Pre-School. As histórias cativaram os pequenos, que deram boas risadas e se divertiram ao usar o chapéu da bruxa Winnie, the Witch.

Outro destaque foi o livro The Day the Crayons Quit, de Drew Daywalt, com ilustrações de Oliver Jeffers, um queridinho entre os alunos. A obra narra a história de Duncan, que encontra sua caixa de giz de cera vazia e descobre cartas escritas pelas cores, explicando por que decidiram partir. Para explorar o livro de forma diferente, os alunos trabalharam em duplas, escolhendo uma carta para ler em voz alta e explicar os sentimentos e razões que fizeram a cor ir embora. Eles também destacaram os adjetivos utilizados para descrever as cores.

Participamos do XIV Encontro Escola SESC de Bibliotecas Escolares, um evento de referência em formação e troca de experiências para profissionais de Biblioteconomia no Rio de Janeiro. O tema deste ano, Diversidade e Inclusão, abordou práticas, políticas e tecnologias voltadas para eliminar barreiras e promover a inclusão.
