The Odessa remote sends bluetooth commands to the Odessa box, and IR commands to the TV and cable box. By talking to all three devices, the Odessa remote can be used as a senior-friendly universal remote.
The Odessa remote always sends VOLUME and POWER IR commands to the TV when programmed for the user's TV brand.
Additionally, when programmed for TV input switching (Code Scan Scnenario 2) or smart TV navigation (Code Scan Scenario 3), the Odessa TV and NAV buttons also send IR commands to the TV that allow the user to navigate TV menus while in TV mode.
When IR is enabled for the TV and NAV buttons as described above, those buttons will always send the IR commands to the TV, whether the user is in TV mode or Odessa mode. This may cause unintended behaviors on some smart TV operating systems, such as bringing up an HDMI status banner for a few seconds when you press OK on the Odessa remote while in Odessa mode.
IR Conditional Mode allows you to set the Odessa remote to only send IR commands when the user is in TV mode, and to not send IR commands when the user is in Odessa mode, preventing unintended behaviors while in Odessa mode.
If you see unintended behaviors onscreen when pressing the Odessa NAV buttons while in Odessa mode, you need to use IR Conditional Mode.
This setting is a toggle; for example holding UP + STAR will toggle between the two states listed below.
Hold UP + STAR until the OK button blinks.
2 flashes = IR always ON
4 flashes = IR Conditional is enabled
Hold DOWN + STAR until the OK button blinks.
2 flashes = IR always OFF
4 flashes = IR Conditional is disabled
The TV button works along with the NAV buttons to enable full TV control. Make sure to set them both.
Hold DOWN + TV until the OK button blinks.
2 flashes = TV button IR is enabled
4 flashes = TV button IR is disabled
