Follow the steps below to install OdessaConnect on a patient's TV. Every step is important. Make sure you have all the necessary supplies and collateral pieces on hand before you travel to the installation site or home. Call or text us at (502) 390-2762 if you get stuck or need help.
Identify yourself as a technician for OdessaConnect. Show your lanyard.
Assess the TV situation and note the primary TV source: is it a cable box, coax antenna, HDMI device such as a Firestick, or streaming apps? This will determine setup and remote programming.
Take an RSSI reading near the TV and screenshot the result. If < -70 dBm, do not proceed with installation. Instructions >
Take a speed test reading near the patient's TV and screenshot the result. Note you should be connected to the patient's Wifi network when you take the reading. If < 20 Mbps, do not proceed with installation. Instructions >
Confirm power and HDMI input availability: You may need to put in a power strip or a three-way power adapter. If no available HDMI input, do not proceed with installation.
Set up the Odessa box: Position the unit on top of the TV. Adjust the mounting brackets for optimal tension. Use a strip of Gorilla tape to help secure the box in place. Instructions >
Connect power and HDMI: If there is a cable or satellite box, insert the Odessa box in line between the cable box and the TV (cable box output to Odessa input, Odessa output to TV input).
Power up: Odessa will boot up to Setup Mode, which walks you through pairing the remote, connecting to internet, checking for system updates, and pairing to patient profile.

Check CEC settings on the TV. Instructions >
Test messaging and video call from the Odessa dashboard.
If you do not have access to the Odessa dashboard, make sure an Odessa support technician places a test call.
Some clients will do their own test calls. Follow the protocol for each individual client.
Mark the instruction card using a sharpie with any specific switching instructions. Give the card to the patient.
Train the patient using the instruction card as a guide. Let the patient hold the remote and follow your directions.
Give the family flyer to the patient; explain they can add family members at no charge and make sure they understand how to contact us.
Invite family members that the patient wants to invite.

Collect signatures on the installation acceptance form and the patient consent form.
Take photos of the installed unit, the signed forms, and the patient instruction card with marked up instructions.
Fill out the Installation Report and upload the photos where prompted.
