The Odessa simple remote has a few settings that can be changed to account for a users specific TV setup and use.
Bellow are the different remote programable functions, explaining what they do and how to change them.
Odessa remote programing for TV use
Option 1: Programing "input" for the TV button

Make sure the TV is powered on.
Hold LEFT + ON-OFF until the OK button blinks.
Point the remote at the TV and press TV repeatedly (with a 2 second pause between presses) until the input menu pops up, then press STAR to lock in the code.
The Odessa remote will now control VOLUME, POWER, INPUT, and MENU NAVIGATION. If it doesn’t, you may have clicked past the correct code. Repeat the process to try again.

Make sure the TV is powered on.
Hold LEFT + TV until the OK button blinks.
Point the remote at the TV and press the TV button repeatedly (with a 2 second pause between presses) until the SmartTV Home menu pops up, then press STAR to lock in the code.
The Odessa remote will now control VOLUME, POWER, INPUT, and MENU NAVIGATION. If it doesn’t, you may have clicked past the correct code. Repeat the process to try again.

Make sure the cable/ satellite box is powered on and is the active input on the TV.
Hold RIGHT + ON-OFF until the OK button blinks.
Point the remote at the cable box and press CH+ until the channel changes, then press STAR to lock in the code.
The Odessa remote will now control the cable box CH up and CH down. If it doesn’t, you may have clicked past the correct code. Repeat Step 2 and 3, but this time press CH- instead of CH+ to step back to the code that you passed up. Click slowly so you don’t pass it up again. When you see the channel change press STAR to lock in the code.

The default setting for the Odessa remote is "IR Always On"
Hold UP + STAR:
2 Flashes = IR Always On
4 Flashes = IR Conditional
Hold DOWN + STAR:
2 Flashes = IR Always Off
4 Flashes = IR Conditional
How does IR conditional work?
If the STAR button is pressed, the IR codes of the NAV/OK buttons are disabled.
If the TV button is pressed, the IR codes of the NAV/OK buttons are enabled.

2 Flashes = TV IR Enabled
4 Flashes = TV IR Disabled
