Principal's Message
Good afternoon Families,
It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of the 2025/2026 School Year. This will be my last parent communication for the school year and updates will resume again near the end of August.
The school will be closed from Monday June 29th-August 21st.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our amazing volunteers. We have a vibrant school council, led by Jamie Gorley and Anna Whyte (co-chairs). The school council members worked tirelessly this year with fundraising and organizing special events such the end-of-year BBQ and Christmas events. I also want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Yantha who volunteered each pizza day to ensure our students received lunch on time! Many thanks to all of our parent volunteers who, over the year, have made many events possible. Volunteers help make our school a special place!
We will be looking to hire a Lunch Monitor for the 2026/2027 school year to help supervise Kindergarten students. This is one hour a day over lunch and it is a paid position. Please email traci.nehme@ocsb.ca if you are interested and would like some more information.

School Council Updates
Dear Convent Glen CS Families,
As the school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank our incredible school community. Whether you attended an event, volunteered your time, supported a fundraiser, donated supplies, or simply encouraged our efforts, your support helped make this year a success.
This year, your participation helped make all of the following possible:

FEBRUARY
Pancake Breakfast brought students together for a fun and memorable celebration of Shrove Tuesday.
FEBRUARY
Buddy Bash helped fund student field trips and learning experiences.
MARCH
Family Movie Night helped purchase new recess equipment for students to enjoy.
APRIL–MAY
Halo Car Wash Fundraiser helped purchase new sleds for our Kindergarten students.
APRIL
Gymnastics Day gave students the opportunity to participate in a unique and active experience during the school day.

JUNE
Year-End BBQ & Family Fun Day provided teachers with funds for classroom resources that directly benefit students.
As we look back on everything that was made possible, we'd love your feedback. We've created a short survey to help us understand what worked well, what could be improved, and what families would like to see next year. Your input will help guide the Parent Council's priorities and planning for the 2026–2027 school year.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here: [SURVEY]
The School Parent Council's goal for 2025–2026 was simple: build community, create memorable experiences for our students, support families, and provide resources that enhance learning throughout our school. While there was certainly a learning curve, we are incredibly proud of what our school community accomplished together this year.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our families, volunteers, teachers, and administration.
Thank you for an incredible year. We wish all of our families a safe, happy, and well-deserved summer break.
With gratitude,
The Convent Glen Catholic School Parent Council
OSTA Message:
Free Summer Trips for Youth Aged 11 - 18, OC Transpo Summer Change of Access
Please find the flyer for OC Transpo’s Free Summer Trips for Youth Aged 11-18 initiative linked here. We kindly ask for your assistance in distributing this information to your students and families before the summer break.
To ensure a smooth transition, we’d like to clarify the following points:
Existing Cards REMAIN ACTIVE: Existing student cards will continue to work for free transit until September 1st. Students do not need a new card if they already have an active OSTA student pass.
No Summer Replacements: OSTA will not be able to replace any lost cards over the summer. If a student loses their card, they will need to purchase a new PRESTO card.
Proof of Age Required: When setting up or updating a PRESTO card, students must bring a valid proof of age to have their fare type set to the "Youth" discount.
Timeline: Starting September 1, students with PRESTO cards can ride free after 5 pm weekends and holidays. Eligible students will receive new student passes from OSTA that will work any time.
Invitation: Register for OSTA’s First Rider Event for Newly Registered Families
Please share the following message with the appropriate families:
Dear Families,
Riding a school bus is an important aspect of your child’s education journey. As part of this journey, Ottawa Student Transportation invites you to attend their First Rider Event held on Sunday, August 23, 2026. All are welcome!
First Rider is a great opportunity for your child(ren) to learn about being safe on their way to and from school. This integrated 45-minute session provides elementary school-age children and their families with the essential skills to navigate their commute safely. Combining hands-on bus training with interactive pedestrian practice, this comprehensive program ensures a confident start to the school year.
For more details and to register, visit OSTA online.
