Principal's Message
A special thank you to our School Council and to all of our parent volunteers for making Shrove Tuesday(Pancake Tuesday) a memorable event. It was wonderful to see the school community come together to share in this tradition. Many thanks to parents who lent us griddles to use as well. We couldn't have done this without you! Our Buddy Bash was also a huge success! Thank you our School Council and all of the wonderful parent volunteers that made this event so fun for our students and families.
Wednesday, February 25th is Pink Shirt Day. On this day, all staff and students are encouraged to wear pink to raise awareness about bullying. On this day and every day, we encourage our students to choose kindness and to use their WITS when encountering issues with others. The WITS program is a framework that we use to teach children strategies that promote kindness and reduce victimization, including bullying. It may also be used at home to promote positive conflict resolution strategies. WITS stands for “Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help”.Â

School Council News
Wow. What a couple of weeks! Buddy Bash was an absolute hit — and thanks to your generosity, we raised critical funds to help cover buses for field trips. That means more adventures, more learning, and more memories for our kids.Â
And a huge thank-you to everyone who donated pancake mix, syrup, and griddles for Shrove Tuesday! Because of you, the gym smelled amazing, and the students enjoyed a sweet little mid-week treat. If you lent us a griddle, it’s ready for pickup at the school office anytime.

Lent Feb 18th -April 2nd, 2026
As we step into the Lenten season, a period marked by reflection, sacrifice, and generosity, This year presents us with a remarkable opportunity to make a profound impact by extending our support to St. Joe's Women's Centre.Â
With this project, the students are honoring the memory of Sister Shelley Lawrence (RSCJ), a cherished member of the Ottawa Catholic School Board who served as Zone 9 Trustee and dedicated 25 years to nurturing students, staff, families, and broader communities as chaplaincy leader. We are doing this initiative in partnership with St. Anne’s Catholic School.
St. Joe's Women's Centre is a vital institution in our community, providing essential services to low-income and homeless women, as well as their children. Since its founding in May 1984, the Centre has been a beacon of hope, offering a supportive and safe environment where individuals can access social and educational programs aimed at promoting empowerment, autonomy, and dignity.
To support this worthy cause, we will be collecting donations of toiletries and healthy non-perishable school snacks.Â
St. Joe's Women's Centre is currently in need of toiletries such as deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, toilet paper, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.Â
Additionally, St. Joe's Women's Centre operates a School Snack Program, providing over 1000 snacks to children each year.Â
To assist with this initiative, we are seeking donations of healthy non-perishable snacks such as granola bars, juice boxes, and Welches. We kindly ask that all donations be unopened and unused to ensure their suitability for those in need.Â
Online donations will not be available as the students prefer to witness the tangible impact of their contributions through the collection of physical items.
Our goal as a school is to collect 250 items to support this program.
In an effort to streamline the donation process, donation bins/bags will be conveniently located in each of your children's homerooms.Â
Your support will make a difference in the lives of individuals and families served by St. Joe's Women's Centre. Together, we can embody the spirit of compassion and service that defines the Lenten season.
Thank you in advance for your participation and generosity. Let us approach this Lenten season with open hearts and a commitment to making a positive impact in our community.
