Points can be used as a classroom incentive and as a way of behaviour tracking so when you have parent meetings you have concrete evidence to support what is happening in class.
Parents can when connected to the app, see what points are being given.
Ways you can use points in the classroom:
Points can be positive or needs work.
They can be edited by clicking on a student and in the screen where it says Give Feedback at the top then clicking the Edit skills button at the bottom.
Skills can be for anything you would like (7 teachings, behaviour goals, social skills you are working on).
You will see that there are a few default skills already uploaded when you see the initial page. The skills assigned work for the whole class.
You can also choose what parents see.
I believe that we need to show them both so that they can see
You can also edit skills that already exist. This is very beneficial when they are the default ones or you need to clean up what is already listed if you have created too many.
For positive points, you can pick up to 5 points. You can name the skill whatever you would like so it is tailored to your needs.
You can also click on the icon shown and pick your own so it is more tailored to what skill you are assigning. Unfortunately the selection is limited.
For needs work points they range from 0 to -5. The 0 points will give off a different sound. This is beneficial to give a non-verbal warning so that the whole class or a student will know to change their behaviour instead of being called out in front of their peers. If a student gets too many needs work points it will show on their avatar as a negative in a red circle.
All the points generated daily, weekly and monthly are compiled into a report. This report is really great for providing evidence to parents about their child's behaviour.
To find reports - Click Options on the right hand side of the classroom screen. Then go down to the View reports page.
Reports can be generated for a variety of spans of time. You can do this by clicking the blue This Week button.
On the left hand side it will show you percentages for the time that you are measuring/ viewing. It will also show the different skills points have been given and taken away for. On the bottom of the screen it even shows you when it happened.
By default it will show you the whole class. You can click on the student's names on the left hand side. This will break down their report into their behaviour only.
This is the student view. It breaks down their behavior by the time chunk you have given (the blue button on the left) and shows the dates given for each.
If you click view spreadsheet (top right corner) then you will get an Excel file of the child's behaviour for that time indicated.
This is the printable file format for you to use in parent meetings.
