Student Schedules

An on-track student takes six credits each year.

The administration has the right to:

    • Deny a student from taking a schedule of more or less than 6 classes in a semester.
    • Cancel a course for which there are not enough students who enroll in the course
    • Decide which students must withdraw from a class if there is over enrollment in the class
    • Schedule students as appropriate to meet graduation requirements.

When choosing classes for the upcoming school year, please read the course descriptions and prerequisites. Dropping classes after the deadlines for each semester is NOT recommended (see Schedule Adjustments below). If there is a question regarding which courses to take please ask your school counselor or your current teacher in that subject area.

Adjustments to Student Schedules

  • Students are given several opportunities to review and evaluate their course selections; once they make the final decisions regarding their courses, they have made a commitment to honor their schedule. In order to follow-through with the commitments the school has made to students, parents, staff, and community; schedule adjustments will not be honored after June 1 for a 1st semester class, and after January 10th for a 2nd semester class. It is expected that the students commit to the courses they select during the programming process. Student commitment to their course selection is important because teachers are hired, textbooks purchased, courses committed to other students, and facilities are allocated based on the course selections made by students during the programming process.
  • During the third week of the semester, students can drop a class without receiving any grade and replace it with a study hall as long as the following conditions are met:
      • There is room in the study halls offered the hour the class is being dropped.
      • The student does NOT already have a study hall or teacher aide in his/her schedule.
      • Students will NOT be enrolled in a different course (unless it is an ability-level change - see below)
  • An ability-level change (based on student academic performance data) must be made by October 1 for first semester or January 10th for second semester.
  • Courses dropped AFTER the 3rd week of the semester will receive an grade of an "F" for the course.
