Credits & Grading

GRADE VALUES, PERCENTAGES, GRADE POINTS, WEIGHTED GRADE POINTS

The cumulative grade point average (GPA) is the arithmetic average of all of the grade points, including weighted grade points that are earned for each class. The cumulative GPA is calculated at the end of the semester using semester grades only. All classes and the semester grades including + and - earned in them are used to determine GPA.

WEIGHTED GRADES:

Grade values awarded in subjects designated AP, CAPP, PLTW or taken off-campus through Early College Credit Program (ECCP) (4-year college) or 200-level MATC courses through Start College Now (SCN) will be 1 point higher for each grade and are considered weighted grades upon successful completion and/or examination.

AWARDING OF CREDITS

  • Credits are awarded for courses in which a student earns a “D-“ or better grade. If a course is taken on a pass/fail basis, credit is awarded for a “P” grade.
  • Credits for high school courses taken in the Oak Creek-Franklin Jt. School District are awarded based on the following:
    • 1.0 credit-course meets 1 class period per day for the year
    • 0.5 credit-course meets 1 class period per day for the semester
  • Credits for courses taken off-campus through approved programs (ECCP, SCN, Youth Apprenticeship, Work Experience, and Part time Open Enrollment) have different requirements than those earned at Oak Creek High School. The administration shall decide the credit value for these courses on an individual basis
  • CAPP, Dual Enrollment, and Transcripted Credits may have specific grade requirements in order to be granted college credit by the post-secondary institution.

TRANSFER OF CREDITS

  • Students entering Oak Creek High School at a point in their high school career where it is impossible to meet all our graduation requirements may, with administration approval, have adjustments made and credits substituted in other areas to meet total credit requirements.
  • Any combination of credits approved by the High School Administration submitted from an accredited institution, online course work, will be accepted. Credits accepted from outside institutions will be at the discretion of the administration.
  • International Students will receive a “P” grade for all transferred credits.
