If you are planning to share slides during class and want to use your speaker notes without revealing them to the audience, the following steps provide a solution. For visual instructions, click on the slide presentation to the right.
Open the Zoom desktop application on your computer. Click "Sign In". (If you don't have the Zoom desktop application on your computer, download and install it first).
Click the SSO button below the email and password fields.
After completing the authentication process, the Zoom application should be open on your computer.
Click the Share Screen button. (Note: if participants are also joining remotely, then you will need to start the Zoom meeting on your computer and "Join" the Zoom meeting using the classroom Zoom panel).
If prompted for a Sharing Key, enter the key that appears on the room tv monitor/screen.
Open your Powerpoint presentation and select the “Slide Show” tab.
Next click Presenter View. This will open your presentation with your speaker notes.
You can start the meeting from your NYU Brightspace course site or, as in the example to the right, start the meeting using the Zoom app.
For a hybrid meeting with remote guests, you must join the meeting using the room’s Zoom panel. Click “Join” on the panel and enter the meeting id found in your meeting details.
When the meeting starts, Click the green Share button.
Then select the Advanced tab.
Then select “Portion of Screen”.
Click the blue Share button.
A green box will appear over your Powerpoint presentation.
At this point, select the “Presenter View” tab which will open your presentation in presenter mode.
Next, you will see your powerpoint slide on the left side of the screen and your speaker notes on the right as well as the green share box.
Move and resize the green box so that it fits only over the slide image. This way your audience will only see the image and not the speaker notes when you present.
Hover your mouse over a corner of the green box and click/drag to resize and move.
You are ready to present! Click the arrows under the slide image to move forwards and backwards. Your slide animations will work in this mode.
