The tools discussed enable faculty to embed question prompts and the ensuing class discussion directly within the texts, providing a window into how students are directly interacting with and understanding the concepts discussed in each text.

Perusall
Perusall is a social reading platform that is fully integrated within Brightspace LMS. Perusall enables students and faculty to digitally annotate readings and also enables faculty to create multimodal assignments for annotation that include different media such as video, podcasts and texts, combining them into a single assignment. Hypothes.is
A website and document annotation tool that enables students to select and comment on passages within texts, respond within the text to question prompts from the instructor, take personal notes, and collaborate with classmates on annotating course materials such as journal articles, websites, and pdfs. Hypothes.is can integrate with many Learning Management Systems, including Brightspace. Learn more.
