Class of 2024
Bachelors in Jazz Studies
1. Are there any specific projects or performances you participated in that you are particularly proud of?
Two of my most notable productions are Billabong Babe and Royal Blue. Billabong Babe has garnered over 3 million streams, while Royal Blue reached #2 on Netease's "Hottest Trending" chart. These tracks represent the dedication, expertise, and hard work I’ve put into my craft. I didn’t anticipate their success, but they serve as a reminder that consistent effort yields results. While these songs aren’t my "big break" yet, they stand as a testament to my potential and a message to my younger self that I’m truly capable of succeeding in this industry.
2. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I plan to pay off my student debt…haha. One of my dreams is to work with Riot Games, ideally in music production, though I’d gladly contribute in any capacity—even mopping their office floors! As a musician, I aspire to go on tour at least once and establish a full-time career in music production and creation.
3. What advice would you give to other students?
Always aim to arrive 30 MINUTES early.
Learn how to create and stick to a schedule.
Incorporate exercise into your routine. I started rock climbing and working out during my final year of school and wish I had begun sooner.
Build friendships outside of your major; diversity in perspectives and connections is invaluable. All the professional opportunities I’ve secured since graduating have come from connections I built outside of my major.
You’re ALLOWED to say NO. You are not OBLIGATED to do anything for everyone.
People may forget your consistent efforts, but they’ll remember the one time you mess up or are late—so always be PUNCTUAL.
Embrace CHANGE. You’ll grow so much between the ages of 18 and 21. Mistakes are part of that process, so don’t shy away from them.
