How did the MPAP faculty contribute to your growth as a musician?
The MPAP faculty at NYU played a pivotal role in my development as a musician. Their interdisciplinary approach in areas like Performance, Music Business, and Music Technology provided me with a diverse and comprehensive understanding of the industry. Working alongside these professionals as a peer mentor, I gained unique insights and real-world skills that have been instrumental in shaping my career.
Share three key skills you learned in your program that help you today?
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: My experience in the program, which spanned various aspects of music and performing arts, taught me how to effectively collaborate across different disciplines. This skill is essential in orchestrating large-scale events and working seamlessly with diverse teams, ensuring that every project I undertake is harmonious and cohesive.
Business Acumen in Music: The Music Business component of my studies equipped me with crucial insights into marketing, management, and financial strategies tailored to the music industry. These skills are the backbone of my company's success, helping me make informed decisions and navigate the complexities of the luxury event industry with confidence.
Artistic Innovation and Creativity: Being exposed to innovative practices in music and performance at NYU ignited my creativity and ability to think outside the box. This is key in my role, as it allows me to create unique and unforgettable experiences for each event, setting me apart in a highly competitive field.
Were/Are there any specific projects or performances you participated in that you are particularly proud of?
I really loved performing as a vocalist during NYU Steinhardt's welcome week. It was special to be part of welcoming new students and setting a welcoming tone for their journey at NYU. This experience was not just a performance for me, but a way to connect with and inspire the next generation of talent.
What have you been working on since graduating?
Since graduating from NYU, I've been deeply involved in leading Vali Entertainment in New York City, where I bring my unique blend of creativity and business acumen to luxury events. My role involves not just planning and executing these events but also ensuring that each performance is tailored to the client's vision, making every occasion memorable. Throughout, I've been continuously honing my skills as a performer, always looking to innovate and elevate the experiences I create. Whether it's through dazzling performances or meticulous event management, my goal has been to set new standards in the luxury event industry.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself having significantly expanded my role and impact in the music and entertainment industry. My goal is to establish Vali Entertainment as a leading name in luxury events globally, known for its innovative approach and unparalleled experiences. Ultimately, in five years, I see myself not just as a successful business owner and artist but as an influential figure in the industry, inspiring and shaping the next generation of musicians and entertainers.
What advice would you give to incoming students?
Embrace every opportunity to learn, not just in your classes but also through real-world experiences. The music and entertainment industry is constantly evolving, so stay curious and open to new ideas. Network as much as you can – connections are invaluable in this field. But remember, networking is not just about meeting people; it's about building genuine relationships. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. This is the time to explore different aspects of your field, experiment with your art, and find your unique voice. And while you're pushing your boundaries, don't forget to take care of yourself. Balance is key. Most importantly, be persistent. There will be challenges and setbacks, but they are part of your growth. Stay true to your passion and keep honing your craft. Your dedication and hard work will pave the way for your success.
