Biography
My study focuses on acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) properties in ventral horn spinal neurons. The spinal cord is the major pathway for information connecting the central and peripheral nervous system. ASICs in dorsal horn spinal neurons are known to be associated with neuropathic pain, while the role of ASICs in ventral horn neurons remains unclear. To examine the functional properties of ASICs in ventral horn spinal neurons, I apply patch-clamp techniques on spinal cord slices with post-hoc morphological reconstruction. Recently, I am going to study ASIC 1a knockout mice to explore the functional characterization of ASICs in ventral spinal neurons.
