Welcome to Nueva Track & Field! The coaching staff is very excited for the upcoming season! Listed below is important information in preparation for our season starting February 3rd. Please take a moment to review, as many imprortant details are outlined.
This season, Nueva Track & Field is pleased to welcome back all coaches from last year's team: Coach Robert Lopez, Coach Jackee Bruno, Coach David Eik, Coach Dani Moseley, Coach Michael Ramos and Coach Primo Ramos. Coach David and coach Michael will once again assist with girls and boys distance, while Coach Primo will be assisting with our boys distance and jumping events. Coach Dani will be coaching the throwing events, and Coach Robert and Coach Jackee will handle You may view their individual bios on our team google site. There will be a spring sports athlete/parent meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 via zoom, beginning at 7:00PM. This meeting is required for all spring sports athletes. The Nueva athletic department will be going over general athletics information. Following the general session, spring sports teams will break off to discuss sport specific information. Please make arraignments to attend this meeting.

Required Paperwork
There are five required forms for athletic participation at Nueva: Pre-participation Physical completed by a doctor, Steroid Policy form, Concussion Information form, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Information form and the Opioid Factsheet. Students may not begin practice on February 3rd until all forms have been received (see linked clearance forms). Athletes who competed in a fall sport, or are currently in a winter sport, have already submitted your required forms, and are automatically cleared to practice. All forms listed below are due prior to the start of practices. Please submit all forms electronically via Magnus Health, our new health portal. You can find the red icon for Magnus Health on your Resources landing page.
Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) - All students who participate on a Nueva athletics team must have this form completed and signed by a physician (licensed medical practitioner). This must be done annually. NOTE: Physicals must be dated AFTER June 1, 2024 to be eligible for the 2024–25 athletics seasons. (We encourage you to schedule a summertime physical to ensure that your evaluation is valid for the entire school year.)

*It is recommended that you purchase your shoes at a specialized running store! These stores are staffed by experienced runners, and are trained to fit you in the right pair of shoes! Proper running shoes are key to a great start to the season!
The track & field team will practice 5-6 days a week. Practice will take place during the following:
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday – All Athletes 4:00PM-5:30PM @ College of San Mateo*
Tuesday & Thursday – All Athletes 3:30PM-5:30PM @ Nueva San Mateo Campus
Saturday – Distance Athletes 9:00AM-10:30AM @ various locations to be announced.
Follwing practice, there will be a manditory spring sports athlete/parent meeting via zoom, beginning at 7:00PM. All efforst should be made to attend this meeting
During this time, practices will be limited. A February break practice schedule will be issued leading up to the break.
With Nueva class trips being conducted during the middle of our season, athletes are encurraged to conduct workouts on their own while on trips as best they can, in order to maintain fitness. Event coaches will provide workouts to do while on trips.

The top 4 individuals in each event, along with those individuals who meet or exceed the PSAL at-large standard in any event will advance to the PSAL Championships.
Individuals/relays who place either 1st or 2nd, or meet /exceed the CCS at-large standard in an individual/relay event (with the exception of the 4X800 relay) at the PSAL League Championships will advance to the CCS Semifinals. 4X800 relay will only advance the top 2 teams to CCS Semifinals.
The top 9 individuals in laned events and the top 12 in non-laned/field events will advance from the CCS Semifinals to the CCS Championship Finals.
Individuals/relays who place in the top 3 or meet/exceed the CIF at-large standard in an individual/relay event (excluding the 4X800 relay) at the CCS Championship Finals will advance to the CIF State Championships. 4X800 relay team finishers who place either 1stor 2nd AND meet a CIF State minimum standard will also advance to the CIF State Championships.
