Track & Field Throws Coach
Coach Dani (she/they), an Oakland transplant originally from Brooklyn, NY, comes to the Nueva athletics coaching staff with extensive experience playing and coaching a myriad sports at east and west coast independent schools over the last 20 years. A three-season high school student-athlete, Dani played basketball at Williams College during their first and second years, before transferring to the University of Connecticut to join the practice team. Dani later played semi-professional basketball as the 2007 Guyanese National Women's Basketball team starting point guard.
Dani has coached boys and girls basketball, soccer, and volleyball at the middle and high school levels since 2012. While the bulk of Dani’s playing and coaching accolades have been earned in the sport of basketball, Coach Dani has coached middle and upper school girls' teams to their first championships at their respective schools. Coach Dani was a former New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championship medalist in the javelin, discus, and shotput as a student-athlete at Westminster School in Simsbury, CT, and was a member of the Williams College Track & Field team during their freshman year. Dani is eager to bring their coaching experience and enthusiasm to Nueva Track & Field as the designated throws coach this spring.
