Shannon Parry OAM | Current Wallaroos Captain, Olympic Gold Medallist (Women's 7s Rugby)
A pioneer of the women's game, Shannon started her journey in rugby in 2008 and it was a quick transition to making her international debut in 2010 at the Women's Rugby World Cup. In 2014 she became a professional rugby 7s player relocating to Sydney to embark on a dream of becoming Olympic Champion. In 2016 that became a reality, where she won an Olympic Gold Medal at the Rio Olympic Games in Women's 7s. Recently retiring from International 7s after her second Olympic Games, she has transitioned back to where it all started in the 15 format of the game where she recently returned from captaining the Wallaroos at the Womens Rugby World Cup.
Overview of Presentation:
Shannon will add a valuable perspective on Friday’s Q & A panel, unpacking skills coaching in the women’s game, and sharing some similarities and differences between coaching and playing in both games. Shannon will also host a think-tank workshop on Friday night, putting a microscope over the Women's game both 7s and 15s formats; sharing her experiences and leading discussion around where the future is headed for coaches in the women's game.
