The National Curriculum 2014 sets out the programme of study for primary schools here. These objectives are broken down into smaller steps which incorporate the '5 big ideas' of teaching for mastery: variation, fluency, mathematical thinking, representation and structure and coherence.
At Scarning we follow the White Rose progression of small steps because the number skills are carefully sequenced and applied within the progression of the rest of the blocks. Children are exposed to a breadth of learning, whilst those that need support are also able to keep up with the core learning with scaffolding and resources. The yearly overviews are below:
