PUZZLING (continued)
As we continue to have fun with puzzles, we’d like to thank this opportunity to thank staff who are supporting the process by sharing their own favorite puzzles. For those of you who remember the UNICEF puzzles, these few photos are a good reminder of excellent initiatives and intricate craftsmanship. Big thanks to Mr. Ane Tuntev for sharing these with us.
Faculty updates
This month we are seeing two changes in regards to faculty - we are celebrating Mr. Ane Tuntev’s retirement (if you see him, please give him a big hug), and welcoming a new member to the MYP team, Ms. Denica Stojkoska (Visual Arts). We are grateful to Mr. Tuntev’s years of support, and are looking forward to the collaboration ahead with Ms. Stojkoska.

Working with Managebac+ and Cialfo
As educators, we look for trends and recognize their value when considering changes/improvements. The following Student Whitepaper was produced in collaboration with Managebac+ and Cialfo (the university and career advising platform we use). It’s a 7-10 minute read, especially valuable if your children are exiting LSS and entering USS, as well as transitioning between programmes in USS (MYP and DP).
Some of the trends, to be mindful of, include:
ROI is now the #1 driver of student choices.
Students are choosing universities based on career outcomes, employability, and internship opportunities far more than brand reputation alone. “Career opportunities after graduation” is the single most important factor they consider (p. 3).
Safety concerns are at an all-time high.
Across regions, 63% of students say safety is the biggest reason they would change their study destination—even higher than rising tuition fees (p. 9).
Affordability and financial clarity matter more than ever.
Students and families are prioritising scholarships, financial aid, and total cost transparency. Nearly half of students say they only have a rough idea of real study-abroad costs, highlighting a major information gap (p. 16–17).
Study-abroad destinations are diversifying.
While the USA (51%) and UK (17%) remain top choices, interest in Europe (13%) and Southeast Asia (8%) is sharply rising due to lower costs, safety, and more flexible visa/work rights (pp. 13–17).
Parents are the decisive voice—counselors are the key influence.
61% of students say parents/guardians make the final decision, while counselors and teachers are among the top sources students rely on for university information (p. 20–22). Early, clear communication with parents is essential.
Students begin planning earlier than expected.
Many start researching pathways between ages 11–14. This means early exposure, structured guidance, and long-term planning have a greater impact than ever before (p. 21).
