The purpose of this guide is to give students and parents information on the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and its implementation at NOVA International School Skopje. The DP is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for students in the grades 11 and 12. It is a broad-based two-year programme that aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. Strong emphasis is placed on encouraging students to develop an intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.
The International Baccalaureate was established in 1968 as non-profit educational organization offering four highly respected programmes of international education: the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, the Diploma Programme, and the Career-related Programme. The general objectives of the IBDP were to provide students with an international education, facilitate geographic and cultural mobility, and promote international understanding through a shared academic experience. Ultimately, the broad goal of the DP is to provide students with values and opportunities that will enable them to develop sound judgment, make wise choices, and respect others in the global community.
At present there are 4527 schools worldwide authorized to deliver IB programmes. NOVA has been one of them since 2006, offering the Diploma Programme.
