Inspiration
The personal project is a sustained inquiry project. You will be working on this project for several months! It is important to pick a topic that will challenge you, sustain your interest and lead to life long learning. Ask yourself:
What do I want to achieve through my personal project?
What do I want others to understand through my work?
What impact do I want my project to have? (IBO)
What excites you?
What is my goal?
The personal project goal should include a product and a learning goal. You need to demonstrate growth through the ATL skills so you goal should be personal, engaging and challenging.

What impact do you want your project to have?
What matters to me?
The personal project asks that you explain in detail how your product and learning goal relate to your personal interests. Use the Goal Setting Worksheet to help you identify interests and ideas that can lead to a personal project.
How will I know I was successful?
What does success look like? Present multiple appropriate and detailed criteria for success. Detailed criteria have a goal or outcome and a way to evaluate the project against them. Remember that your project has a product and a learning goal. Use the Success Criteria Worksheet to help you plan how to assess both.
Success Criteria Must:
❖ The success criteria must be testable, measurable and observable.
❖ The success criteria must evaluate the product.
❖ The success criteria must evaluate the impact on the student or the community.
Creating a Plan
Based on your assessment criteria, your learning goal and your product, create a detailed plan that will allow you to be successful. Your plan should include benchmarks, opportunity for peer and self reflection and above all be realistic! Your product and report should take no more than 25 hours to complete. Your plan should have major benchmarks and smaller easily tracked milestones. break the task into smaller chunks. Use the planning worksheet to guide you.
Gathering Evidence
Evidence can be gathered in a variety of ways and formats. Students will be expected to embed evidence of the process into the report. Students can create a process journal similar to the arts journal, the design folder or create their own format that works for them. They should:
use a range of tools to record and gather evidence
gather evidence as part of the process of creating the product and achieving the learning goal
reflect on their learning journey
Provide evidence for each strand of the assessment objectives
