7th Grade Orchestra

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 7/8

Prerequisites for Course: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Description: Any student who wishes to join the orchestra at the middle school is welcome. This includes students who participated in elementary orchestra as well as 8th graders deciding to start late. Students will learn how to play instruments, read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required.

8th Grade Orchestra

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 7/8

Prerequisites for Course: Complete 7th grade orchestra or show accelerated knowledge of orchestral techniques 

Course Description: This class is for students who have completed 7th grade orchestra or have shown the proper skill level for the music. Students will continue to learn how to play instruments, read music, and learn extended musical techniques. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required.

7th Grade Choir

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 7th

Prerequisites for Course: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Description: Any student who wishes to join the choir at the middle school is welcome. This class will teach students how to sing with proper technique, how to read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required. 

8th Grade Choir

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 8th

Prerequisites for Course: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Description: Any student who wishes to join the choir at the middle school is welcome.  This class is a continuation of the 7th grade choir and will teach students how to sing with proper technique, how to read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required. 

Beginning Band

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 7/8

Prerequisites for Course: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Description: Any student who wishes to join the band at the middle school is welcome. This course is intended for those who have never played an instrument before or are making a difficult instrument switch. Students will learn how to play instruments, read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required.

7th Grade Band

Prerequisites for Course: 6th Grade Band

Course Description: Any student in 7th grade who wishes to join the band at the middle school is welcome. This course is intended for second year band students. Students will learn how to play instruments, read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-3 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required.

8th Grade Band

Length of Course: Full Year

Grade Level/s: 8th

Prerequisites for Course: Beginning Band and/or 7th Grade Band

Course Description: Any 8th grade student who wishes to join the band at the middle school is welcome. This course is intended for second and/or third year band students. Students will learn how to play instruments, read music, and understand historic musical events. This group will have 2-5 concerts a year. A group T-shirt is required.
