PROGRESS REPORTING
Interims and report cards are a means to report a student’s progress throughout the school year. In addition, parents are encouraged to contact their child’s team of teachers at any time.
GRADE AVERAGES
In averaging grades, an A is to count four points, B is to count three points, C is to count two points, D is to count one point, and F is zero.
Semester averages will not be recorded on progress reports. Each nine-week grade recorded on the report cards shall be considered separate in value when averaged with other nine-week grades and/or exams.
When percentages are used to determine grades, the following are applicable:
A = 90 - 100
B = 80-89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60-69
F = 59 and below
Student who quits – The student who is earning an “F” during 3rd and/or 4th quarter, after earning anywhere from an “A” to a “C” average for quarter 1 and 2, will receive a letter in the mail from their guidance counselor. It is possible for a student to fail a course if they earn Fs for quarter 3 and quarter 4, even if they have passed the first two quarters of the class.
Presidential
6 quarters with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The 6 quarters come from all 4 quarters the 7th grade year and the first 2 quarters of their 8th grade year. All 6 quarters must be completed at Northmont Middle School.
4.0
Students who have all A’s in all classes for the first three quarters of the year.
Honor Roll
Scholarship is recognized and encouraged through an academic honor roll. The honor roll is compiled at the end of each grading period. The honor roll includes those students who have achieved a scholastic grade point average of 3.4 and above with no grade lower than a “C” in any subject. Students must be on the Honor Roll for the first, second, and third quarters in order to earn the yearly honor roll award.
