The children are encouraged to explore the site and discover how many animals/insects/fauna/trees they can spot. They can use a nature spotting list, an iPad ID App or one of the numerous identification books to see how many they can find. Once they had identified any insect they can then find out more about it, before safely releasing it again. In the case of trees, they can find out if it has any fruit, seeds or catkins and discuss how many creatures call the tree their home. We also encourage the children to use binoculars to look at any birds, or to use a sit spot which is a place where they can stop and sit, somewhere to pause for a while and connect with nature.
