Knock Down is a race to the finish style game that aims to provide players with a fun and fast pace adventure. This game entails the perfect balance of luck and skill with the use of numerous Arduino components and hand-on configuration. Players must pick a suitable path, avoid the motor arm at the center of the board and make it to the finish line with their game piece still standing!

Range of Players - 2 to 4 Players

Estimated Setup Time - 30 minutes to 45 minutes

Estimated Play Time - 15 minutes to 30 minutes

Set-Ups Required

Only one player is required to print out the game board
An Arduino set-up is required for only one player

Materials Required

Cardboard
Arduino Spark Fun Kit
AutoCAD printout
Computer that runs Arduino
Tape
Exacto Knife or Scissors
Paperclips and rubberbands

How to Set Up the Game (*Follow Along with the Instructional Video Linked Below*)

Game Board (*Linked Below*)

Print the game board printouts and cut along the bold lines.
Using the tool preferred, cut the piece of cardboard with a similar shape to the board.
Tape the paper board to the sizable piece of cardboard.
Attach a Velcro fastener to the center of the board weaving the wiring through the hole in the paper board.

2. Wiring Diagram (*Hook Up Guide Linked Below*)

Set up your breadboard and Arduino using the provided wiring diagram.
Attach a Velcro fastener to the bottom of the servo motor equal in size to the Velcro fastener mentioned in the step above.
Attach the servo motor to the board.

3. Arduino Code

Using the laptop from the materials mentioned above, upload the code linked below in Arduino.

4. Game Instructions

Enter the number of players that are playing as prompted by the Arduino RedBoard.
To decide which player goes first, each player should roll the virtual Arduino die. The player with the highest value goes first and the next player is the player to the left.
To start your turn, declare if you would like to switch paths. If you move closer to the center, you must switch paths at the end of your turn. If you move further from the center, you must switch paths at the beginning of your turn, prior to moving the indicated spaces.
Once all players have rolled and moved their spaces, the RedBoard will indicate the length of the arm that should be used. Alter the length of the arm to the correct length and when ready, press the button on the Arduino board again.
If a player pieces is knocked over by the arm, the player must return the start. (See Technicalities for additional instructions)
Repeat these steps until a player reaches the end of the board.

How to win

Reach the end space on the game board before any player.
Players must land on the end space with exactly the right number of spaces moved, overshooting is not allowed.

Technicalities

If 2 players land on the same space, the player who landed on the space most recently moves back one space.
If in the chaos of the arm spinning, a knocked down player piece knocks down or hits/touches another player piece that was not in the range of the spinning arm, the knocked down piece takes the place of the piece that it touched. The player piece that was touched must move back to the start.
If during the spinning of the arm, a player piece is knocked down without the influence of another piece and while being outside the arm's range, the piece is permitted to stand up again and remain on the same space.
