How to Pack Your Bag

Mark your calendars! Registration for the 2024-2025 school year opens on Monday, April 15.

Enrollment is an annual requirement and doesn't roll over from the previous school year, but for returning families, the process is an easy three-step completion. The process is handled through Home Access Center via a guardian’s account, which results in previous registration information being completed.

Enrolling your child as early as possible is one way you can help your campus and the district prepare for next school year. Please visit www.nisdtx.org/enroll to learn more!

Field Day Information

Our Field Day shirt store is open! We are incredibly excited to have our first student designed shirt!  3rd grade student Seneca bid on and won the opportunity to design the shirt at the PTA Fall Fest!   Funds raised from the sale of Field Day shirts go towards paying for inflatables and generator rentals for Field Day, which will happen on May 20th.

Each grade level has been assigned a shirt color that will auto-populate when you select your student's grade level and teacher.  First click the "Buy" button and click the grade level and teacher. The garment type will also auto-populate.

Shirts are $11 and will be delivered already sorted to the school and then will be sent home with your student the week before Field Day. Parent shirts are also available in grey but please be sure to enter your student's name on the name line if you purchase a parent shirt so we can be sure to get that shirt home to you.  If you'd prefer to color coordinate with your student, you are welcome to do that as well, just be sure to enter your student's name so we can get the shirt to you.

Students are not required to buy a Field Day shirt of course but we would love the support.  If you opt not to buy one, please try to have your kiddo wear a shirt that is the same or similar color to their assigned Field Day shirt.

Shirts must be ordered online and the store will close on April 30.  We CANNOT order additional shirts once the company closes the store.

To order a shirt, go to our Spirit store here: https://spiritworx.com/store/17017/

April's character focus for the month is Courage!

This week we are learning about:

Reading:

This week we will share and debate our opinions about books. We will learn how to share a series of books by giving a thoughtful presentation.

Book Swap Reading Celebration

We are excited to announce that 2nd Grade will be having our reading and writing celebration on Friday, April 19th. Students should bring in a gently used, grade appropriate book to school on or before Wednesday, April 17th, and we will all go “shopping” for a new book.  2nd grade teachers will lay out all of the selections and students will choose a new title to take home with them. If you have a pile of books at home that you want to donate, feel free to send in more than one!

Social Studies:

This week we will be discussing spending and saving while making good choices with our needs & wants. In Daily Geography, we will study a population map of California.

Writing:

This week we will be continuing writing about the books we are reading. We will write a book review.

Phonics:

This week we are beginning cursive unit!  We will start with all of the lower case letters and then move on to all of the upper case letters.

Math Workshop:

This week, our mathematicians will continue lessons in Module 11. We will spend a few more days on subtraction strategies and then move into identifying fractions of halves, fourths, and eighths towards the end of the week.
