NIS requires all students to be diligent in observing all policies, rules, and regulations. All students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and safe manner at all times and at all school-sponsored activities.
Students will:
Be polite and courteous using “please”, “thank you”, “excuse me”, or “I am sorry” at the appropriate times.
Be truthful and honest.
Respect the personal property of all students, staff, and school property.
Refrain from using vulgar words, profane language, or gestures.
Be expected to possess a hall pass while outside the classroom when classes are in session.
Students will be suspended for:
Possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, or drugs.
Possession or use of weapons, explosives, flammables, or any other object used to cause injury or destruction.
Possession of pornographic or other immoral materials in any form.
Bullying/harassment, fighting, hazing, and any other violent behavior towards any student, teacher, staff, and parent.
Students are expected to follow all rules and regulations of the classroom teacher, and to conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive to learning. No student is allowed to be in any classroom unattended.
Students will:
Be punctual and prepared for all classes.
Demonstrate good posture and refrain from sleeping.
Be on task and complete assignments.
Refrain from putting their feet or legs on the furniture.
Be respectful and cooperative with classmates.
Demonstrate self-respect, respect for others, and respect for the educational process and environment.
Maintain a positive, safe, and educational environment through the use of self-discipline.
All students will adhere to the NIS Academic Honesty Policy and all rules, regulations, and policies in this handbook. Cheating on any type of academic work such as homework, research projects, class assignments, tests, quizzes, or examinations will not be tolerated and will result in a zero or immediate redo of the assignment.
All students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and safe manner while on or near school grounds and will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth in this student handbook. Any parent whose child causes damage or vandalizes school property due to negligence or willful destruction will be financially responsible for the cost of the repair or replacement.
Students will:
Keep all school materials and supplies in good condition.
Keep all class materials stored in lockers before leaving the campus.
Responsibly use all school equipment for its intended purpose.
Refrain from writing on or defacing desks, tables, walls, whiteboards, or any other school property.
Refrain from sitting, standing, or laying down on desktops or tabletops.
Adhere to all rules, regulations, and policies regarding school property.
Students will:
Adhere to the rules and regulations of the Dress Code.
Be polite and respectful to all students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
Maintain a safe atmosphere by not engaging in dangerous behavior or potentially dangerous activities such as running in the building or horseplay.
Refrain from spitting.
Refrain from littering.
Refrain from loitering on the stairs, in the halls and doorways, and any other high-traffic areas.
Adhere to government-mandated policies that the school adopts.
All students present on campus are required to attend assemblies, including school ceremonies, special events, and any other scheduled activities. Students must adhere to the following rules and regulations:
Enter and exit the auditorium in an orderly and safe manner.
Sit in their assigned area.
Refrain from using cell phones or other distracting devices.
Be respectful and attentive to all presenters.
Stop all conversation when the assembly begins.
Do not bring food or beverages into the auditorium.
Do not enter the Control Room unless authorized by a teacher.
Take toilet breaks of no more than 5 minutes, which are monitored and cannot be used as an escape from assemblies.
The swimming pool is a potentially hazardous area, and all students are expected to maintain safe behavior and observe the following rules and regulations when using the pool or in the pool area. No one is allowed to enter until a member of the PE department or the supervising coach/teacher is present.
Enter the swimming pool deck only when the teacher or coach is present.
Running on the pool deck is prohibited.
Obey all safety rules and dress appropriately when using the swimming pool.
Keep the pool clean at all times. No food or beverages are allowed on the pool deck.
No horseplay or disturbing others during class hours.
Students may use the pool only during Swim Class or Swim Club after school.
The fitness room is a potentially hazardous area, and all students are expected to maintain safe behavior and observe the following rules and regulations when using the fitness room and its equipment.
Students may use the fitness room only when permitted and when a teacher or coach is on duty.
Students below grade 9 are not permitted to use the Fitness Room unless accompanied by their PE teacher.
Only students who are using the equipment are allowed in the Fitness Room.
Roughhousing is prohibited – students must maintain safe behavior at all times.
Obey the teacher’s directions and instructions.
Strictly observe all safety rules.
Keep the Fitness Room clean at all times. Food and beverages are not allowed, except for water bottles.
Personal items cannot be stored in the Fitness Room.
Music with profanity and inappropriate language is prohibited.
Students must strictly obey all of the rules and regulations. Any student who violates the rules and regulations will lose Fitness Room privileges and be disciplined accordingly.
Students may use the computer lab only during posted working hours. Students must obey the rules and regulations of the lab. Failure to do so may result in loss of privilege and/or disciplinary action. The computers, network, and Internet are to be used for educational purposes only.
Students must read, sign, and obey the Acceptable Use Policy.
Students must be quiet and orderly to prevent damage to any equipment. If any student breaks or damages any computer equipment, their parent/guardian must reimburse the school.
Students may not move or change equipment in the computer lab without permission.
Students may not eat or drink in the computer lab.
Students may not send threatening messages or inappropriate information.
Students shall not visit inappropriate websites.
If there is any problem when using a computer, students must notify the teacher.
Student safety is our top priority. All registered school buses are equipped with CCTV as an additional safety measure. The school bus driver and assistant are responsible for ensuring safe and secure transportation to and from school. All school policies, rules, and regulations apply to students using the bus service and will be enforced. Violations will result in consequences.
Students and parents are encouraged to report any misbehavior to school administrators or teachers immediately. Following the driver’s instructions and exhibiting good behavior is expected at all times. Poor conduct or serious misbehavior may result in the student being denied the use of school transportation for the rest of the semester or until the administration decides otherwise. No refunds will be issued for students who lose bus privileges due to policy violations.
Thai law requires all motor vehicle drivers to have a valid Thai driver’s license or an International Driver’s License. The minimum age for a motorcycle license is 16 years, and 18 years for a car license. Motorcycle drivers must wear a helmet as mandated by Thai law. Students without a valid license and/or helmet will not be permitted to enter the campus. Unlicensed drivers will be prohibited from driving onto school property. Parents or guardians will be notified and must transport the student until a valid license is obtained and a helmet is used. Please inform the front office of any changes to your child’s license status.
Matches, lighters, fireworks, fake guns, ninja stars, tasers, nun chucks, or any flammable objects are prohibited on campus. Students must not bring weapons or replicas of weapons of any nature to school. Any such items will be immediately confiscated, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
Gambling of any kind is prohibited on campus. Card playing is allowed during free time; however, if any form of gambling is involved, the cards will be confiscated, and disciplinary measures will be taken.
The Student Behavior Code applies to all school sponsored events. This includes events both on and off campus, in or outside of the usual school hours, and those hosted by other schools in which we are participating.
