The Middle School curriculum focuses on transitioning students from Elementary School to High School. Each student takes courses in the core subject areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, providing the foundation needed to succeed in our College Preparatory High School Program. Additional courses include Computer Science, Thai Language, Modern Languages (Grades 7-8), Physical Education, Art, and Music.
A variety of after-school academies and sports activities are available throughout the year. Please note that some activities are optional, while others are mandatory for Middle School students. More information will be sent to parents during the school year.
To accommodate a spectrum of skills and learning levels, students can learn in one of three learning environments for English Language Arts and Mathematics while progressing toward Grade-Level Standards.
Middle School Report Cards
Grade 6-8 report cards reflect progress toward Grade-Level Benchmarks in each subject/skill area. Proficiency levels are evaluated based on the following indicators:
In addition to evaluating a student’s progress in meeting Grade-Level Benchmarks, students are assessed on their Learning Behaviors each quarter according to the following categories:
These learning behaviors highlight areas of achievement, areas requiring further development, and areas presenting challenges.
Teacher comments are provided to offer deeper insights into curriculum areas covered during the quarter.
The academic development of all students relies on a strong support network involving both parents and teachers. The school strongly encourages parents to discuss Mid-term Report Cards during Parent-Teacher conferences to help children understand expectations regarding study habits, preparedness, classroom attitude, and behavior.
To be eligible to advance to the next grade level in Elementary & Middle School, a student must satisfactorily complete all required courses. In the event of not meeting standards in a reporting period, the student may be permitted to advance after completing a Self-Improvement Action Plan.
Students may be retained in the same grade level for the following reasons:
Failing multiple courses.
A sustained lack of effort in all courses.
Failure to complete a Self-Improvement Action Plan.
Repeating a grade will be based on the decision of the Principal and the Head of Academic Affairs.
