Grade 4 Activities

End of Year Grades will be based on Q1-3 grades. If you have concerns about your child's current level of mastery, please reach out to your respective teacher to discuss opportunities in distance learning available for your child to improve his/her End of Year Grade. Please understand there are only a few weeks of instruction left, therefore teachers may have to prioritize specific subject areas to target for your child.

Use this as a guideline for how much

time to spend on each activity.

Aloha Fourth Grade Parents,

First off, we want to say “mahalo” for your patience as we work on navigating a new educational platform to best bring education into your homes and to our students. Over the past days, we have been meeting (virtually) and researching the best options to continue providing your children with distance learning initiatives through technology. Although the circumstances that have brought us to this point are unfortunate, we view this as an opportunity to utilize this time to help our students with the continuity of engagement in their education using prior learned skills.

As a fourth grade ohana, we have developed a basic framework of enrichment activities in all subject areas for you to utilize with your child. We have also set up a weekly template for home education; a plan to help you create a routine with your child. Typically, a student spends about 6 hours at school, however, that is not all devoted strictly to academics; they have social times such as recess and lunch, as well. A student who is learning from home is only expected to spend two and a half to three hours on academics each day, especially given the lower adult to child ratio. The times and guidelines are just that, guidance, but you know your child best and can help them to spend the time they need to hone their skills and master the concepts presented.

Please check the NES COVID-19 website often for grade level updates. You will also receive more specific information through Class Dojo and Google Classroom from your child’s teacher. Thank you again for your understanding as we strive to continue to help your children grow and learn during this unconventional time.

Mahalo,

Mr. DePonte, Mrs. DeBeaux, Mrs. Furukawa,

Mrs. Mecsko, Ms. McLean, and Mrs. Strong
