Grade 3 Activities

End of Year Grades will be based on Q1-3 grades. If you have concerns about your child's current level of mastery, please reach out to your respective teacher to discuss opportunities in distance learning available for your child to improve his/her End of Year Grade. Please understand there are only a few weeks of instruction left, therefore teachers may have to prioritize specific subject areas to target for your child.

Aloha 3rd Graders and Parents,

We hope that you and your families are doing well as this COVID-19 Pandemic continues. During the next 2 weeks, from April 7 to April 17, your child will be learning about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and how they are directly affected by it. There are many resources available for teaching during this time, so we will be taking advantage of that by using it to teach students important thinking and physical skills revolving around the pandemic. We will use readings to give background information on this virus and will be having the students relate it to what they are experiencing during this unprecedented time.

We ask for your support:

We live in an age where information changes by the minute. Gone are the days of waiting to hear about current events on tape delay. During this time, we would encourage you to have your child watch the news, read newspapers, magazines, and most importantly, use home technology to research this topic. We know many of you have concerns regarding internet use, however this is the perfect opportunity for you, along with your child, to search the internet together for information that will be useful during these two weeks and beyond. With the knowledge that they gain, we would like them to think about and ask deeper questions, like “How is the Coronavirus affecting businesses?”, “Who or what else is affected as a result of what I do during this pandemic?”, “What can I do to better my situation?”, “How can I help out as a community contributor?”, “Why is it so important to follow rules or laws?”, “Where can I get information about what to do?”, “What do I need to know about the disease?”, etc.

We know that as parents you have a million things to worry about and realize that your time is both valuable and limited. However, we humbly ask that you take a few moments out of your busy schedule to discuss with your child their feelings about what they are experiencing during this time. Our goal is to use the current events to reinforce lessons that have already been taught. They will still have other daily assignments that they will be able to do, like iReady, math multiplication practice, Typing Club, etc.

We continue to miss all of our students and want to support you and them during this closure. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

Please refer to the online website for the instructions and assignments.

Please continue to stay safe and healthy!

With warm aloha,

Mrs. Muromoto, Mr. Kam, Ms. Kam, Mrs. Strong, & Mrs. Mc Lean
