EDGE Support

EDGE is the Local Portfolio Management System (LPMS) used in the West of England to allow sites to report and manage recruitment activity in near real time.

From 1 April 2019, this has been the default reporting method for NIHR portfolio adopted studies, except for those studies in which the recruitment information is collected and managed centrally by the study team. Currently, these exception studies make up around half of all open studies in Primary Care in the West of England. EDGE is designed to give sites greater ownership of their recruitment data and remove the delay that came from all study data being uploaded by the study teams, as was the case before 1 April 2019.

EDGE can be used to track studies that you’ve expressed an interest in, as well as manage patient appointments and finances. The extent the system is used beyond patient reporting is up to each individual. Study teams will also have to confirm that data uploaded to EDGE is accurate, allowing them to highlight any missing recruits and help ensure that the data on the system is accurate.
