Healthcare Providers

We work within a range of health and social care settings, both NHS and non-NHS, to support successful research delivery for studies which have been adopted on to the NIHR portfolio. This includes primary care, hospices, care homes, public health, mental health and community services.

We can support you in a number of ways, including:

Introducing your organisation to research

  • Offering the advice and guidance you need to get started with research in your organisation.

  • Providing a named contact who will support and signpost you to resources that we offer.

Expert advice in recruitment

  • Providing access to expert advice from research-active GP’s and GP Champions on any aspect of primary care research.

  • Working closely with health professionals in hospices, care homes, public health and community settings to identify research that is suitable for their population.

  • Helping you to choose a portfolio of research activities suitable for your growing capacity and expertise.

  • Facilitating contact with study teams, on request, to discuss any studies further.

  • Where necessary, we’ll advise on alternative recruitment strategies.

  • Inviting research-active organisations, or those interested in research, to attend annual events to promote new studies and share ideas and best practice.

Supporting you to deliver research

  • WE ReACH research nurses and clinical research practitioners provide practical support in the delivery of research at your site.

  • We can support with research activities such as participant screening, informed consent, study assessments/questionnaires, clinical sample collection, clinical observations, data collection, and many others.

  • Support is offered on an individual study and site basis, depending on the team’s capacity.

  • If you’d like to request support from us, please complete a referral form.

Funding and reimbursement to research active sites

  • Supporting your application for Research Site Initiative (RSI) funding, to enable the development of your organisation's workforce capacity for research.

  • Reimbursing your organisation through NHS Service Support Costs for the time your staff spend on research activities, without the need for your organisation to raise any invoices.

  • The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research Ready Accreditation allows primary care organisations to demonstrate their compliance with the standards of the Research Ready programme. This takes into account the legal, ethical, professional, and patient safety requirements of the UK Research Governance Framework. Research Ready accreditation is a requirement of the Clinical Research Network’s RSI, and demonstrates to study teams that the site is appropriate to be considered to support their study.
