We are the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Research and Innovation Team
Our team is part of NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB). Our main focus is supporting research in primary care and the out of hospital setting. The list of our currently hosted research grants can be found here.
We have a role in facilitating research, evidence use, evaluation, quality improvement and innovation across the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS). Our aim is to make this business as usual across the ICB/ICS and encourage system-wide collaboration.
We also work across the East of England and nationally in association with our partners.
Research and Innovation Strategy
We worked with partners across the ICS to co-create our research and innovation strategy. The strategy aims to enhance research and innovation across Norfolk and Waveney. The four strategic principles are to ensure that research and innovation is:
Focused on our communities
Driven by a confident and capable workforce
Collaborative and co-ordinated
Embedded in everything we do as a system.
The Research and Innovation Team in NHS Norfolk and Waveney provides a convening role for the strategy and is co-ordinating implementation activities.
We focus on the following six areas:
Collaborate with academics and clinicians to review and cost research grant applications for out of hospital settings
Build capacity and capability
Assist with set-up and implementation of research studies
Oversee ICB held research grants
Assist with research governance queries
Provide evidence briefings to ICB/ICS colleagues
Evaluation support for ICB and system wide projects
Identify system innovation needs, propose solutions and support implementation
Support the spread and adoption of innovations
Further develop a culture of innovation across the ICS
Support quality improvement in primary care
Co-ordinate the system-wide Quality Faculty
