The NIHR Research Delivery Network is introducing a new app which will be utilised by commercial sponsors and acute care settings to simplify and enhance the efficiency of identifying appropriate research opportunities for each location. General practices will also be able to benefit from this streamlined process by submitting a profile to the app.
Each location's profile will demonstrate essential information about the capabilities, resources, and interests of the location, ensuring a more precise alignment with potential studies.
Whilst we are currently in a pilot phase for sponsors directly accessing GP profiles following an expression of interest, the current intention is that the profiles will replace the current Site ID forms, which are completed and submitted by a site each time they express interest in a study.
When the new process goes live it will mean that the profiles are on an app ready to be accessed by a sponsor if the location EOIs in their study. Therefore a location will still need to EOI for a study they are interested in delivering but this will be done via the Wider Care website and the EOI form will be much more limited and therefore much faster to complete.
Whilst we await the completion of the pilot phase, the East Midlands RRDN Industry Team is keen to gather as many profiles as possible from commercially interested practices. These will support key discussions with commercial sponsors, demonstrating the significant infrastructure and expertise available to sponsors if they bring their studies to General Practice in the East Midlands.
