Students

Introduction

Before starting a research project, student researchers should identify a lead NHS R&D office for their study and seek their advice on the approvals and permissions required. This may be the R&D office at the NHS care organisation where the research will mainly be conducted or the R&D office for their educational institution.

Students should allow sufficient time for the regulatory processes in planning for their research proposal. Undergraduate and postgraduate students should seek advice from their university and research supervisor. The R&D team recommend that students keep their projects as straight forward as possible and also consult with appropriate healthcare professionals and/or the R&D team to see if their ideas are realistic.

For Masters students, the research supervisor will take on the role and responsibilities of the Chief Investigator.
